Tips to remember on your financial independence journey
This list is comprised of quotes heard in videos, lectures, seminars, books, work, riding the train, and any other place that life has offered advice. Take to heart as all of these things are true.
- No one is coming to rescue you from bad financial decisions
- Attach yourself to the right people who are going in the same direction you want to go
- Make sure your money is working hard in the background; don't worry about looking rich
- It's hard to "turn it on" (i.e. saving) when you're older, start early; go hard early cause you have to pay either way, so pay when you're young
- Forgive your parents as soon as possible, they did the best they could (with you) with what they had
- Go all-in and take risks when you're not married and don't have kids
- If you have a side-hustle then your main hustle is not working that great
- Follow your talent, not your passion if you want to make money and be financially secure
- The importance of living in a "supercity" when you're young to learn how to compete
- Pick fields with a 90%+ employment rate (being a DJ or an actor doesn't meet that criteria)
- You can have it all, you just can't have it all at once!
- Buying precious metals is buying insurance, not so much an investment
- Gurus say just follow me and "you can be me," which is not true - what worked for them doesn't translate to everyone
- Business owners don't invest enough in passive income; they think they can run the business forever
- You have to be maniacal about being patient when it comes to investing
- Money is [an] award received for rendering service to others
